Rotary International is an association of individual clubs, with each club operating autonomously. Membership is extremely important to us, and we are always eager to hear from individuals interested in our mission and in joining a Rotary club. The RI universal premise is that the membership of each club constitutes an accurate representation of the business and professional population within the community served (in our case, the Stone Oak area).
Membership in a Rotary club requires available business or professional classification opportunities as well as an invitation and sponsorship by a member of the club. Sometimes an individual cannot be invited or sponsored for membership simply because there are too many already in your field.
Rotarians are business and professional leaders who take an active role in their communities while greatly enriching their personal and professional lives. A Rotary club contains a diverse group of professional leaders from the community that the club serves.
Membership in a Rotary club offers a number of benefits, including:
-
affecting change within the community
-
advancing business and professional contacts
-
developing leadership skills
-
gaining an understanding of — and having an impact on — international humanitarian issues
Through Rotary International's service programs, a Rotary club can have a significant effect on the quality of life in its community. Rotary Foundation programs offer opportunities to form international partnerships that help people in need worldwide. Some 1.2 million Rotarians in 30,000 clubs in more than 160 countries make significant contributions to the quality of life at home and around the globe.
The Rotary Club of Stone Oak, San Antonio, currently has dues of $125 semi-annually, plus a one-time initiation fee of $75. Lunch is $14-17.50 weekly depending on your selected meal plan. Use the contact form to request an application or visit our club Fridays at Noon at The Club at Sonterra. Membership is strictly by invitation only; you need a member to sponsor you before joining our club.
As with any worthwhile pursuit, Rotarians get what they put into their club. While networking, fellowship & fun occur, SORC is first and foremost about Service Above Self. Service is at the heart of Rotary, requiring an ongoing commitment of time, finances, and team leadership.
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of Service as a basis of worthy enterprise; we do this by developing acquaintances as an opportunity for service to them. Our 4-Way Test exemplifies the opportunity to serve society with each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and a peaceful world is accomplished with a world fellowship of business & professional persons united in the ideal of Service.
The local club is the soul of Rotary International, and we value the diversity of our group. Our club reflects the Stone Oak community with regard to professional & business classifications, gender, age, ethnicity and purposeful thinking. Linked worldwide, we accomplish the impossible, e.g. eradicating polio worldwide, by attracting men and women seeking to make a difference, play a Bigger Game in Life, and go beyond their own limitations and capabilities. Once a member, you become part of the almost 3000 Rotarians in our District 5840 (over 40 Texas counties) and millions worldwide.
Stone Oak San Antonio Rotary Club meets Fridays at Noon at The Club at Sonterra. While membership is by invitation only, you do not have to make a reservation to “check us out” and learn more.
